10 construction pillars
Now that we have a bunch of character. We must sort them from the most potential crewmate to the least potential crewmate. By analysing the story, we can see that they are 10 big parameters of construction for a strawhat that are present in EACH and EVERY strawhats. Something that we can also observe, is that those pillars of construction for a strawhat have different range of importance. Some pillars are more important than others. Again, we must not forget that our role is not to choose our favorite character but to sort all the potential candidate fairly and find a potential crewmate. So the more important pillars are those who are the least shared by the protagonists in the story and the closest to the notion of crewmate.
For each parameters, I will distribute the pillar in term of pourcentage relatively to their importance. I will also explain the order after the analysis of all the pillars.
Here are the 10 PILLARS of construction for a strawhat:
The Antagonistic introduction. 3%
The Multi layered characterization. 5%
The Symbolic reach. 8%
A Strong character arc. 9%
The Rescue. 10%
A Tragedy. 11%
The Double Nakama link. 12%
The Dream/Desire 13%
The Post. 14%
The Shining Nakama Action. 15%
Before jumping into the analysis.
You might find it strange that there is no "sad backstory" here. This is because of one simple fact: all those categories were designed by the fan, not by Oda himself!
First, you will find the dream but under another name, more precise and closer to what the dream actually is in storytelling. For the backstory, you will indeed find it mostly with all the strawhats, but when we tear down the layers of storytelling around the construction of those characters.. you find out that a backstory is actually just a tool and the real parameters are the driving forces.
Also. Because of the amount of information, I will not do the breakdown in one post only. I will split the work with multiple post. Make sure to check them all out.
Let's begin!
Vivi sweeps the floors of them lol
